Of course we are all susceptible to disease, no matter which country we were born or live in. While for many countries, the priority is research for new medicines to fight old enemies like cancer or newer ones like Aids, in less developed countries the priority is to find cost-effective ways of producing medicines for diseases that are no longer big issues in more developed countries. Thousands of people die every day as a result of diseases like TB or dysentery because science hasn't yet found an effective medicine for their condition.
