Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to my donation to a Charity that's not been vetted or is removed by Xperedon?

Our vetting process takes a maximum of three months. If a charity to which you have donated is not vetted or has not given us their bank details, or is delisted from our Web-site for any reason, we will direct the donation to the Xperedon Global Macro Fund. We will tell you if this happens.

Can I make one-off donations ?

Not at the moment although this facility will be available soon. The concept behind Xperedon is that you make regular donations based on your personal charity plan. We do not get involved in "one off" donations such as in response to disasters. Having said this, many of the charities featured on Xperedon, as well as Funds that we have created, are engaged in this activity…so you can still help by giving to these organizations or Funds.

May I deduct my donations for tax purposes?

Generally "Yes". This will depend on the laws of your country and on the status of the charities to which you donate.

Why is my donation not immediately transferred to the selected charity?

We reduce bank charges by collecting donations we receive from thousands of donors for the same charities, and we hold them until they represent a meaningful amount (which depends of course on the size of the charity). This saves time, paperwork and costs for the charities, as they receive a smaller number of larger payments instead of small daily amounts. In cases where charities do not collect meaningful amounts, we never hold their money for longer than six months and we send funds to them at that time regardless of how much has been collected.

Up until what date every month may I cancel or change my donation instructions?

Monthly donations are charged to your credit or debit card on the last day of the month at 24h, Swiss Time. You can change your donation level or your charities selection at any time prior to that date and time.

When will my donations start to be charged?

Xperedon will start processing donations as soon as regulatory approval has been obtained.

If I choose to be anonymous, what are the consequences?

If you chose to activate the "anonymous donor" function of your account, your name and address will not be communicated to the charities for which we collect your donations. The charities will only receive communication of your Xperedon donor number, and the name of your city of residence.

Can I make non-cash donations?

No, the only way you can donate is by Xperedon billing the card for which you have given us details or other payment methods that may become available to donors in the future.

Can I stop or suspend my monthly donation ?

Yes, you can suspend your monthly donation at any time using the appropriate function on your account. If you have suspended your account for 3months, we will contact you by e-mail to remind you that no donations are being deducted from your account. Your account can remain suspended indefinitely if you choose.

How much of my donation finally reaches my charities?

We deduct a fee of 5% from your monthly donations to charities. We also charge charities the bank charges that apply to the processing of your donation and to the remittance of your donations to charities. For Swiss charities, we charge Value Added Tax on our fee. So, slightly less than 95% of your donation is remitted to your charities.

How can I be sure that my donation reaches the selected charity?

We collect your donation and hold it for the selected charities on a separate charities account in each currency until the collected donations justify making a payment to the charities. You can see the status of your donation at all times; for example, if your donation has been deducted, is still held by us, or has been remitted to your selected charities. If you are not an anonymous donor, you will be able to check directly with the charities that they have received your donation. Xperedon Inc., is audited by one of the world's largest international audit firms.

Who can see my personal data?

We treat your data with utmost confidentiality, and use it only to process your donations and communicate with you and protect it against third party access. Please see our Privacy Policy for further information on our commitments.

Why does it make sense for me to use Xperedon?

Our idea is simple yet novel; give according to charitable causes of your choice via your Xperedon Personal Charity Plan; this can be a percentage based on your spending, regular fixed monthly donations or other applications the Xperedon platform offers. Xperedon users also have the power to suggest charities of their choice that are not listed on our web-site. Please click here for more information for donors.

When will I be able to link my donation to my actual card spending?

Xperedon is in negotiations with card issuers and networks around the world to secure the data we need to operate expenditure-linked donations. We will contact you and inform you when this becomes possible and will offer you that option. In the meantime you can check to see if your card issuer is a participating organisation. You can also register and choose to make regular fixed donations in the meantime, until that service becomes available from your issuer.

What kind of cards can be registered on Xperedon?

You can register any of your credit or debit cards!

Why does the Xperedon website list charities that have not yet been vetted by Xperedon?

A large number of charities are suggested to us by donors and by the charities themselves. They are listed provisionally until we collect a donation for them. Once this happens, we start the vetting process and request these charities to give us their banking details via an authentication process. If the charities fail to respond or fail our vetting conditions, we delist them.

What is the Xperedon vetting process for charities?

We need to make sure that the charities we list on our web-site have good standing. While we do not scrutinize the quality of the engagement of individual charities and their use of the donations, we check that these charities do have a web-site, that they are officially accredited (for those countries requiring accreditation), and that their activities appear consistent with our values. For charities with official rankings (such as from www.charitynavigator.com) or having quality labels, this analysis is quick. We communicate with charities to obtain additional information, as appropriate.

What is the Xperedon Global Macro Fund?

This is a pool of Charities that we update from time to time and that evenly represents all categories of charities that we list on our web-site. Donations made to charities that have not been vetted or are otherwise delisted from our web-site are transferred to that fund. This fund is also the recipient of any portion of donations not otherwise allocated by a donor to a particular charity or a category fund.

Am I able to communicate with a charity via the Xperedon Web-site?

No, we do not take messages from donors to charities or vice versa. You should communicate with charities directly, through the contact page of their web-site.

Why is it interesting for charities to receive donations from the Xperedon Web-site?

Charities have no investment to make to feature on our web-site. They do not pay any subscription or maintenance fee. They obtain international exposure, especially important for smaller charities, and are likely to reach a broader audience without additional cost or effort. All charities have the same exposure on the Xperedon platform.
