Action Village India (AVI) started life in 1988 as Friends of ASSEFA, a discussion group for people who had lived or worked in India. The name was changed to Action Village India after the group grew and slowly took on a fundraising role to support ASSEFA and other partners across India. There are now six partners running a wide variety of rural development projects in different parts of India. All our projects are devised and managed by local people and work in the Gandhian tradition of non-violent change and self-organisation to right economic and social injustices. |
