Abraham Kriel Childcare was started in 1902 by Reverend Abraham Kriel, who was taking care of seven children who had lost their parents during the Anglo-Boer War. The organization has since grown to offer services that go beyond residential care for needy children. Over the last century, Abraham Kriel Childcare has seen its services grow to provide care and support to over 700 children at any one time. Its services now include residential care, home-based care for children made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS, and early childhood development for children in the resource limited area of Yeoville / Observatory in Johannesburg, South Africa. Services provided by the home-based care programme benefit specifically the communities of Soweto and Westbury south west and west of Johannesburg respectively. |
