Brad Pitt's star-studded charity event for New Orleans promises to be a night to remember ... Stars including Rihanna and Sheryl Crow are expected to be performing at the gala event on March 10, raising funds for Pitt's Make It Right charity which is building environmentally friendly homes in New Orleans.
The work being done by Make It Right is part of the on-going restoration in the Lower 9th Ward following the devastating floods and damage inflicted by Hurricane Katrina.
Special guests including Sean Penn, Kevin Spacey, Spike Lee and Bennett Miller are among those appearing at the gala evening at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans.
Brad Pitt and Ellen DeGeneres will host A Night to Make It Right with other special guests including Randy Jackson, Seal, Dr John, Josh Brolin, Djimon Hounsou, Blake Lively, Chris and Jada Paul, and Wendell Pierce. The gala event will include a VIP reception, live music in the form of a full-on New Orleans style celebration and a seated dinner, courtesy of award-winning chefs.
There will also be a live auction for charity of unique experiences donated by celebrities and artists.
Make It Right and sponsor Hyatt Regency New Orleans are hosting the A Night to Make It Right fundraiser to achieve the charity foundation's goal of building 150 homes in New Orleans...
The event will also celebrate the hotel's re-opening as well as raising vital funds. To start the fundraising efforts the Hyatt Regency New Orleans has promised $300,000 to help build two Make It Right homes in the Lower 9th Ward.
The 150 sustainable homes are for people who lost everything in the storm which followed America's worst engineering disaster when the New Orleans levee system broke...
The LEED Platinum certified homes include solar power, geothermal heating and cooling systems, first-class insulation, tankless water heaters and energy efficient lighting.
The project is so innovatory that it has been recognised not only as the largest green community in the world but also the largest congregation of advanced design homes created by different architects working on the same project. A total of 21 local, national and international architects contributed designs to the Make It Right homes.
Other aspects of the eco-homes include storm-resistant features like elevations to protect the homes from flooding, impact resistant glass and durable fabrics to protect windows - along with rooftop access and mould-free paperless dry walls...
Make It Right was founded by Brad Pitt in 2007 to help rebuild the Lower 9th Ward with a specific focus on these 150 eco-friendly homes which are designed to be safe and affordable.
Other projects taking place in the neighbourhood include the Make It Right playground, described as one of the most technically advanced eco-playgrounds in the USA.
